The Most Precious Gift Of All

     Whenever we think of Easter, what is the first thing that comes to mind?  Most people would probably say baskets and bunnies that they need to buy for their kids.  But, what is the real meaning of Easter?

     Another name for Easter is Resurrection Day.  It is all about the most beautiful gift that God gave to us - his son.  He sent his son Jesus to die upon the cross so that our sins would be forgiven.

     Can you think of a more precious gift than that?  Do you know of any father who would sacrifice his own son?  The answer is no.  Jesus then was resurrected back to the father's side.

     So, here is an idea.  Instead of buying bunnies and baskets, have story time.  You could not possibly imagine the amount of money that parents spend on the holiday.  Put that money away for college.  Tell children the true meaning of Easter.

     Let them learn the real lesson from a young age, and grow up with a thankful and grateful heart understanding all that the Lord sacrificed.  

     Let us also focus on our own lives.  It is in every moment, great and small, happy and sad, that we should remember that sacrifice.  It is then that the greatest portion of God's presence and love will be shaken within us.

     We will see great and mighty things because of a grateful and thankful heart.

and your grace with such unending happiness

Help them to feel pleasing in your sight

and to know that they are wonderfully blessed.

be their protection in every way

keep them so close to your heart.

A fictional short story

Katie's Mission

     Katie walked into the room, sat down, and began to cry.  Suddenly, the door slowly creaked open.  She could hear footsteps approaching her.  A thin, cold hand slowly touched her shoulder.

    As she looked up, her friend Morgan was standing by her.  She handed her a tissue and tried to console her.  "Are you okay?"  Morgan asked.  "Yes, thank you."  Katie said.  "I just don't know why Krista is so angry with me."

     "Don't let it bother you."  Morgan said.  "We all love you dearly."  Katie adored her new job as a teacher.  She made so many new friends and had great plans to make a difference with her students.

     But, she couldn't seem to be friends with Krista.  Krista always spoke to her in a cruel and degrading manner.  She tried to start fights with her and spread rumors about her.

     Katie didn't want to give up her job.  So, with the Lord's help, she decided to embark on a mission.  Every day and night, she prayed for Krista.  She did one kind deed, and said one kind thing to her every day.

     Every time Krista said something bad to her, Katie would simply respond 'God richly bless you Krista'.  One day Krista pushed Katie into the ladies room and locked the door.

     "Don't you get it?  I don't like you!"  She told Katie.  "But, I like you!"  Katie said as she reached over and gave her a big hug.  She expected Krista to become even more angry.

     But, instead, she broke into tears.  Krista began to tell Katie about the loss of her parents, and how alone and empty that she felt.  Katie immediately took her hands and prayed with her.

     Krista gave her heart to the Lord!  She and Katie began to build a powerful friendship that would be unbreakable.  Katie thanked God for his grace, love and presence on her mission.  It was a great success!

The Music Maker

     Do you ever feel so useless and bored with yourself that you don't know what to do?  You fight hard, trying to search for good things and meaning.  Some times it feels as if you just don't have any one.

    You are so tired of the same every day routine and the same crowds that seem never ending.  There are days when you just want to cry and complain, but no one will listen.

    Suddenly, if you quiet yourself and listen, you can hear a soft tune within your heart.  The love of God is there, trying to bring his beautiful tunes of glory to your heart and spirit.

     But, will you listen in anticipation?  He will come in and bring you tranquility.  He will fill every void and enlighten every cloud with sunshine.  But, will you listen for the music of his love?

    Take a step back.  Try to block out the happenings of the world around you.  Open a bible, close your eyes, and come before him.  He will clear away all burdens and bring happiness and a smile to you.

    He is the music maker.  It is beautiful tunes of hope and promise that enlighten your heart and spirit at just the time it is needed most.  Will you listen?  

    Please stop and reflect.  Trust in the Lord today.
