A Walk Of Hope

     Deborah sat quietly in a darkened room with tears streaming down her face.  She tried to regain her sense of peace.  But, somehow she knew that it would never be possible again.  Trey was everything to her.  They seemed inseparable, and so perfect for each other.  Since the day they met, she had a feeling in her heart that he was her soul mate.

  But, things were much different.  Trey became cold and impersonal.  It was then she began seeing him with one girl after another.  Deborah's heart was crushed even more with every encounter.  She decided to have a talk with him.  He told her that she meant nothing to him, and never did.

  Suddenly, the telephone rang.  Deborah reached over to answer it.  "Hello?"  She said.  "Deborah...it's Krissy.  Please come out to lunch with me today."  Krissy said.  "No thanks", Deborah answered.  "I am not up to it."  "I am going to insist."  Krissy demanded.  "If our friendship means anything to you."

  Deborah knew she couldn't offend her good friend.  She and Krissy had been loyal friends since school days.  So, she got dressed and met her good friend for lunch.  Krissy told her that she has to snap out of this sadness that she is in.  She invited her to the new adults group at her church.

  They were having a potluck dinner.  "Make your famous lasagna and come join us."  Krissy said.  Deborah agreed to join her friend.  She went home to cook and prepare for the evening.  

  When the time arrived, Krissy picked her up and they drove to the church.  Deborah helped her to decorate and set up.  They then talked with some of the others until everyone began arriving.

  Suddenly, a kind man walked over to where Deborah was standing.  "The lasagna looks delicious."  He said.  "I was told that you are the brilliant chef."  Deborah looked at him and smiled.  "I would like to invite you to come to my Italian restaurant and try my recipes."  He said.

  Deborah was intrigued by his kindness and warmth.  The two began talking.  The man's name is Biff.  Deborah found him easy to talk to.  They shared stories and laughter for the entire night.  Krissy was delighted to see her friend happy again.  Her prayers were slowly being answered.

  Deborah joined Biff at his restaurant for dinner the next evening.  Soon, the two began to date quite steadily.  Deborah began attending church with him every Sunday.  She gave her heart to the Lord.  They dated for a long while.

  Soon, Biff asked her to marry him.  Krissy was delighted when Deborah asked her to be her Maid of Honor.  She knelt down and thanked God for answering her prayers for her dearest friend.  It is true that the only walk that is worth having is the walk of hope with the Lord!

Reflections

     Have you ever had a splinter in your finger?  Most of us can probably answer yes to this question.  This piece of wood is embedded deep within your skin.  It hurts and probably stings a bit.  You are relieved when someone comes a long and takes it out for you.  But, there still might be some stinging felt as after effects where it once was.

    This is sort of what happens when we let fear and worry control our hearts.  It will grab on to the greatest part of you causing pain and stinging.  Even if you try to rid yourself of it, it will cause after effects as it tries to gain control of you again.

     We have to call upon the blood of Jesus.  He will shield us from the gripping power of fear and worry.  If we try to do it on our own, it can seem impossible.  We also risk the side effects as it tries to return as well.  But, the Lord will take it away so that there are no concerns of any return.

     His blood and love and grace will protect us and shield us in a mighty way.  Today's high stress world makes it so easy for us to fall prey to fear and worry.  This is why we need to stay close to God through prayer and a strong relationship.

     He is our intercessor.  He is our protector and defender.  He is our everything.  We never have to be concerned when his grace, his love and his precious blood are always there.  Seek the Lord today!

An Enduring Spirit

     Have you ever had those moments in life where you just wanted to say 'enough' and give up?  Perhaps it is a variety of factors that contribute to such a feeling or even just one.  But, most of us can relate to feeling this way.  Yes, such feelings do occur in the Christian life.

  Have you ever watched a good coach at work with his athletes?  They try to accomplish all that they are called upon to do.  But, they feel wiped out and want to cease their training.  This is when the coach steps in and begins motivating them to continue with courage and in a big way.

  Well, we have a coach.  The Lord is right there ready to encourage us and motivate us to victory.  He gives us the power to take more steps and to do so in the greatest way.  When those points come where we feel low, he is there to carry us to the next point.

  All that we have to do is give our heart and life to him and pledge to serve him.  He will dry every tear and enforce who he wants us to be.  But, we must keep some things in mind.  We must make every effort not to let other things burden our life.  This means not getting offended at things.  This can be difficult.  But, he will be there to help you and teach you.

  Secondly, you must believe in yourself and know, that with God's help, you can do any thing.  Have confidence in the beautiful person that he sees within you.

  Pray this prayer.  "Lord, I desire to live for you and serve you all the  days of my life.  I desire to be everything that you want me to be.  Please always be by my side and give me the inspiration."  

  Don't ever give up!  Be excited about all of the wonderful things that the Lord has for you!  *******************************************

reflects only

from true love

that comes from the heart

of God

He designed a unique 

work of art

beautiful in every way...

If others cannot see

the artistry

pray for them

God will open their eyes

and heart

to see

what true beauty means

to come to know

his heart

and love!
