     We have officially started one of the most beautiful seasons of the year..Christmas.  Now, the shopping madness begins.  People go in search for the ideal present for everyone on their holiday list.  Remember, it has to be something awesome for a great price.  So, what do you look for?

  As a society, we forego the precious gift of spending quality time with family on Thanksgiving and the day after.  Instead, we make unnecessary trips to endless amounts of stores just so we can get a bargain.  Unfortunately, the person will most likely return it after the holidays any way.

  So, when are we going to stop, take a breathe and remember the true meaning of this season?  Think about the precious gift that God gave to us.  He gave us the beautiful gift of salvation through his Son, Jesus.  We need to make the Lord the center of our celebration.

  We need to realize all of the many gifts and blessings that he has given and continues to give to us.  Let us rejoice and praise him.  But, consider this, too.  If you want to find the perfect gift for someone, look inside of your heart.

  There are endless possibilities of personal gifts that you can give that mean more than you can imagine.  Take the time before you consider rushing out to the stores and making retailers richer.

  Let's put the Christ back in Christmas and the human spirit back in gift giving.

A Beautiful Thanksgiving

     When you think about Thanksgiving, what comes to mind?  Perhaps it might be the historical meaning of it all.  Maybe it might be an elaborate food menu and family and friends.  

 

   But, the true meaning of Thanksgiving goes far beyond all of the traditional definitions.  The real meaning begins with a humbled heart.  It is not just a holiday.  It is a frame of mind that defines each day throughout the year.

 

  Take a few days and try a small experiment.  First, look at all of the things around you.  This means look at everything.  Have you ever seen the beauty of a horizon?  Have you ever marveled at the deep blue of the sky or the perfection of the stars?

 

  Take a deep breathe and enjoy the freshness as it fills you.  Now examine the inner parts of your world.  Look at your family, your friends, and all of the wonderful things that incorporate your life.

 

  Next, take some time to look at the people around you.  There is always going to be someone who is not quite as blessed as you are.  So, a humbled heart realizes how fortunate they are to be blessed to such an extent.  

 

  Remember, blessings come in all packages large and small.  Where do they come from?  They come from the heart of a loving and merciful God.  So, the true meaning of Thanksgiving is to give God love and gratitude for his awesome goodness every moment.

 

  But, let's take it a step further.  It also means taking that blessing and sharing it with others so that their lives may also be enriched.  Count your many blessings.  Give thanks to the Lord for all that he has bestowed from his heart.

 

  If you don't know the Lord, please simply recite this prayer:

 

Most gracious Lord:  It is with a humbled heart that I come before your throne, seeking to know more of you.  I am so thankful for all of the wonderful things in my life.  I give my heart and life to you.  Please come into my life and be my Lord.  Amen.

Brotherhood is such a crucial part of who we are both in our humanity and as children of an awesome God.  It is also a very important topic that so many Americans need to be reminded of, now more than ever.

We are God's beautiful creation.  Each of us are unique and very special to him.  We were created with our own special plan and purpose, and given the gifts and talents to fulfill that mission.

But, there is the beautiful and breathtaking light of the love of God that exists within us.  It is a light that reaches out and extends beyond all boundaries to grow, and become bolder and brighter than ever.

So, when we reach out and care for others, we are planting seeds of hope.  We are facilitating a path for that exquisite light to expand in ways we couldn't even imagine.

So many people are hurting and suffering.  It is the rugged hand of brotherhood that helps to initiate peace and promise.  It lays the path for happiness, and allows God's power to work in an even grander fashion.

There are many different ways that you can reach out to others and spread the love of God.  There is nothing more powerful than a listening ear and a prayerful heart to change lives.  Even something as small as a handshake or smile can be paramount.

Think about this question today.  How can I make someone else's life just a little brighter?  This is such a pertinent question especially at this time of the year.  But, the amazing thing you will find is that love comes back to you in the biggest way.

You will receive such immense joy that will last forever.  So, be a catalyst and let the love of the Lord shine brightly in your life today.  It's the greatest blessing in the world.********************************

Movements Of The Heart

     Jennifer sat in the quiet stillness of her room, as her two young children slept peacefully just down the hall.  She sorted through her wallet for the seventh time and then proceeded to empty out her piggy bank again.  Things have been really tight since her husband passed away.

   She wanted to give her children something wonderful for the holidays.  But, she just didn't have the funds to be able to do so.  Tears began to stream down her face despite her valiant efforts to hold them back.  She slowly got ready for bed.

  As morning arrived, she got the children ready for school, and then proceeded to work as usual.  A friend noticed the change in her usually bubbly personality.  Lea has been a confident and friend to her since they began working together three years ago.

  "What's wrong Jennifer?"  She asked her with love.  "Nothing,"  Jennifer said.  Lea invited Jennifer out to lunch that day at a local cafe.  When the food was delivered, she asked Jennifer if she minded prayer.

  "No, of course not,"  Jennifer said.  Lea took Jennifer's hand and began to pray.  She asked God to bless the food, and to bless her dear friend.  Jennifer began to cry.  She broke down and told Lea what was on her heart.

  "You don't have to buy things to show love my friend."  Lea said.  "The greatest gifts come from the heart."  Jennifer dried her tears and began to see the great wisdom in her friend's suggestion.  

  She saved up a few dollars and went to the store to buy supplies that she could afford.  She cut out several pictures of both of her children through the years and put them in the wooden picture frames.  She then painted hearts on them and the phrase 'Mommie's treasures from God's heart.'

  Jennifer made a card for each child and wrote what each one meant to her heart inside.  She wrapped them and tied red string around each one.  When the holiday finally came, Jennifer was amazed by the joy on her children's faces.

  "You made this for us Mommy?"  Her Son said.  "Thank you so much."  Jennifer learned a very valuable lesson in her life.  It is not what she gives her kids that can be purchased that counts.  She began going to church with her friend and found a new family.

  The greatest things in life come from the heart, with love.
