The Thanksgiving Prayer

The food is lovingly being prepared

The table is quaintly set with delight

All of the guests soon arrive with great care

Pure love shared is such a beautiful sight.

They gather and share memories with grace

and all the great blessings given so true

There is a peace and a glow on each face

Thankful for all that God did and will do.

Suddenly, there was a brilliant, bright light

As each one joined hands to ask the days prayer

Seeking the presence of the Lord with might

Knowing he joined their fellowship with care.

They praised him for all the good things he gives

and invited him in every year

On Thanksgiving, great humanity lives

as we see our family and friends so dear.

Every year an extra chair will be set

Ready to welcome God in the head place

A thankful heart's needs have truly been met

The glow of Thanksgiving is on each face.
