The Thanksgiving Table

Father:

I see a beautiful table set before me,

It's all arranged with detail; so lavish and fair

The food dishes have been placed down so perfectly

Each chair has been positioned with the greatest care.

Yet, something feels to be somewhat different this year,

There's a breathtaking light that seems to fill the room

I look at it all and begin to shed a tear

My curious heart yearns to know much more and soon.

At the head chair, there's a crown shining brilliantly,

As I walk around, things begin to grow more clear

The next spot was mine and all that God's done for me

Looking at it all, I shed another tear.

I saw a space for all of my friends and loved ones

and all those from day to day I don't truly know

There was a clear picture of what God's love had done

A true sense of promise and hope began to show.

As I walked further around the room, on my way,

Your presence and mighty power grew brighter still

I dropped down to my knees not knowing what to say

I gloried in your presence and masterful will.

You showed me to be thankful in all that I am

To see your grace and love in all things, with great care

and not to complain at all, for this is your plan

But, trust in you and know that you are always there.

I proudly took my place at the table that day,

For I'd learned what Thanksgiving truly means to me

Giving thanks to God for it all on life's pathway

and doing it humbly and with purity.

     Have you ever had days or times in your life when you just felt like giving up?  It just didn't seem worth it anymore.  You've tried and failed.  Most of us have had those moments.  Yet, the question is what do you do?

  The trouble stems from one single letter 'I'.  What does that mean?  Well in our imperfect human nature, we try to figure things out and do things on our own.  Guess what?  It never works out.

  This is why we need to give total control to the Lord and look to Him for guidance and help.  He is our everything.  Try it today.

 

A Peace Filled Heart

     Have you ever watched someone try to lift weights?  They try different tasks, keeping their own limitations in mind.  But, you know that the curiosity of human nature always finds a way to make an appearance.  This is when common good sense reasoning goes 'out the window'.  The individual tries a much heavier weight apparatus. and thus feels the heavy burden and poor reasoning of their choice.

    So, what does this have to do with every day life?  Consider two very real factors that affect all of us as we live in a dark and stress filled world... fear and worry.  These are both heavy, negative weight apparatuses if you will of every day life.  But, as followers of Jesus Christ, the negative forces have no place or bearing on a positive foundation.  However, if our human nature effects us, we might allow this heavy burden to have a place on our journey.

  Fear and worry give way to many other sub factors like:  doubt, anxiety, uncertainty, inadequacy and insecurity.  The list can go on and on.  In short, it can way heavily on you and tear apart the masterpiece and strong foundation that God has planned for you.

  This is why a relationship with the Lord is so very important.  It is your 'safety' to protect against the heaviness of every day life.  We invite the Lord into our heart and life.  The joy of his spirit living within us gives us the powerful strength to endure, walk forward with our head held high and take another step with honor.

  So, what do you do when you are strongly affected by this heavy part of life?  Give it immediately over to the Lord.  Ask him to take it away and give you complete peace.  He will do just that!  So here are a few important things for you to remember.  Come to know the Lord and strengthen your bond with him today.

  As you need someone to 'spot' you on the weight-lifting path of life, his hands of love, mercy, and grace will always be there.  What an awesome God!

     Here is a very important question to consider.  How do you define true success?  Why is this so important?  It is crucial because it is something that defines another aspect of who you are.  Some people define success as having a lot of money.  Others see it as having a top job and reaching set goals.

  Now goals are very important.  They give you focus and direction.  But, they are just a small part of the bigger picture.  True success is not something that you can necessarily hold or attain.

  Remember what is important.  Anything worth having comes from God.  The most important decision is to live for Him and serve Him.  He then will give us the true necessities like His love and grace, forgiveness and compassion.

  He will then provide the real essential factors like happiness, joy, good health, peace and comfort.  He will be everything that you need and provide just what you need.  So true success is a happy, Jesus filled life.

  But after that comes the other important factors like His plan for you.  He will help you with dreams and turning them into a breathtaking reality.

  So do you know the Lord?  Are you living for Him?  Are you happy and healthy?  You are a true success.  Remember that the next time you doubt yourself.  Nothing is impossible with the Lord.  Just place your hand in His and begin your success filled journey!

     Here is a very important question to ask yourself..do you know the Lord?  Some of you may say "Yes, of course I know the Lord.  I go to church when I can."  Others of you may say that you have heard of him.

  Why is this such an important issue?  It is so crucial because our world is growing more dark and lost as time passes.  If you don't agree, just simply turn on the news or pick up a newspaper.  

  It is developing to the point where you are not safe to go anywhere any more.  When you have a deep, personal relationship with the Lord, you can be assured of a beautiful eternal home with him in Heaven.

  Also, he will be your light, your peace, your everything as you walk the pathway of your life.  You never have to be afraid, no matter what.  He will watch over you and take care of you.

  You might ask 'well why do we see tragic things happen?'.  This is because we live in such a dark and sin-filled world.  We need to put on the 'full armor of God'.  

  If you don't know him as well as you should, please consider the first prayer below.  If you don't know him at all, consider the second prayer below.

  Prepare the pathway of your life as well as you possibly can.  As you can see by the signs of the times, it is a crucial and very wise decision.

     Have you ever had days when you have gotten up, eager to begin your morning?  But, perhaps as you got more into the day, your thoughts might have changed a bit.  Things seem to go a little more in a different direction.  You then begin to wonder why you even got up, or what is your purpose at all.

  This is a common feeling in today's dark and rapidly changing world.  Have you ever noticed just how different people are now from say fifty years ago?  There is hardly any more warmth.  People are always in a rush.  Most of the time, they are rude and uncaring.

  All that you have to do is turn on the news or pick up a newspaper.  It can bring you down faster than you can imagine.  So what is the answer?  What can you do?

  Well, let's stop for a moment and consider the example of someone who has to go to a wedding.  What are some of the things that they do?  They go out and buy an outfit for the occasion.  They also buy a nice gift and a card.  In other words, they get prepared.

  This is why it is so important to know the Lord and to live for Him.  It prepares you to walk your life's pathway covered in His presence, surrounded by and filled with His love, and filled with His joy.

  Draw closer to Him each day.  He is your forever strength.  So when you are faced with the negativity of the world, it won't bother you.  The light of the Lord will overshadow it and make it go away.  When someone is mean to you, you can counteract it with love and kindness.

  You can make an awesome difference by God's grace!

  Yes, I said that word.  There is only one definition of perfect and that is Jesus.  The Lord knows our short comings.  But, here is the awesome news!  He loves us just the same!

  We can ask for forgiveness and always find it.  It will also be accompanied by mercy, love and grace.  So if the Lord forgives us, why shouldn't we forgive ourselves?  He will help us to grow and develop if we ask him.  We are made perfect through him.

  So don't try to be perfect.  Don't listen to any one else's detrimental remarks.  Tune in to the Lord, and expect great things!

     Okay, it is time for each one of us to stop, reflect, and take notice.  There has been so much disarray and anger in our nation.  It is time for us to come together, regardless of our differences and personal opinions.  You may not like our current President.  But, he is our President and deserves our respect and honor.

  We must respect our nation and come together as its people, united and peaceful.  Do we see what's happening around our land?  The tragic situations that occur that result in the senseless loss of innocent lives?

  Let's join together to pray for peace, love, and the Lord's presence to heal our land.  Everyone please set aside at least ten minutes a day to pray for our nation.

  Will you all agree to that?  Let's pray for our leaders, whether you like them or not.  We can make a difference one moment at a time.

Lines Of Hope

     Have you ever had days when you felt so alone and down that you just wanted to take a moment and cry?  But, you figured what's the use, no one would even care.  It would just be a waste of tears and time.

  Probably most of us have had days similar to that.  Yes, even in the life of a believer.  Deep down in your heart you just have these feelings of giving up.  So, what do you do?  Have you ever heard someone say 'never be an impulse shopper'?

  Never let feelings, especially short term intense feelings govern the person that you are and are meant to be.  Stop, take a deep breadth, and close your eyes in quiet reflection.

  Start with one important fact.  YOU ARE UNIQUE AND VERY SPECIAL!  YOU ARE NOT ALONE!  You'll probably say then, well I have no one.  YES, YOU DO!  YOU HAVE A FATHER AND A BEST FRIEND WHO IS ALWAYS WITH YOU AND THERE FOR YOU!

  If you are a believer, simply pray the following prayer:  Lord, I know that you are my Father and my everything.  I ask you please to come in to my life in a new and refreshed way.  Heal my feelings of loneliness and inadequacy with your love.

  If you do not know the Lord and would like to, pray this prayer.  Lord, I dedicate my heart and life to you.  Please be the Savior of my world and let your presence fill every part of me.  Let your love heal the loneliness and feelings of inadequacy in my heart.  Amen

  Meditate on the Lord each day.  You'll find that the feeling of loneliness will give way to a happiness that you cannot contain!
